Encouraging Students with STEM
Robotics is a fun way to bring STEM to life, and that’s important because STEM is the key to a successful future for students with the interest and motivation to pursue careers in this field.
Why encourage students to pursue STEM? For many, the potential money talks. Out of 100 STEM occupations, 93 percent of them had wages above the national average according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
At the same time, according to the US Department of Labor’s projections, US universities are expected to produce only 29 percent of the required number of graduates to fill 1.4 million computer specialist job openings. And before they can get to that point, the prospects are grim: just 36 percent of all high school graduates are prepared to take a college-level science course (National Math & Science Initiative).
